Ski holidays in Mt. Baker

A resort where experienced skiers and boarders can flourish, Mount Baker is a resort with some serious snow. Due to the frequent snowfall, you’re almost always guaranteed lots of deep and fresh powder across all the slopes from the nurseries to the blacks and double blacks. There is also some fantastic back country (off-piste) skiing to try here if you are up to the challenge but this is only advisable for experienced BC-ers and certainly in pairs or a group.

Mt Baker is a fantastic ski resort in Northern Washington. Known for its superb powder and excellent snowboarding conditions, it’s a great resort to come to for testing your skills along the ample network of runs that go up to double black standard. Mt Baker is famous for its back country (off piste) skiing, with some of the best trails in the world to be experienced.

Après ski

There is a pleasant low key vibe around the resort, but the après isn’t a wild and crazy night life. The resort has just one bar where you can sit at a table, get a traditional pitcher of beer and a pretzel, and chat to the friendly locals. The nearby of Glacier has a little more of an ‘up all night’ après with live entertainment and a couple of bars, but it’s still kind of sleepy.

Eating out

There’s not a great deal of choice for eating here, up in the mountains there are a couple of lodge restaurants where you can refuel and in the resort you can head to The Tap Room for more beer and pretzels or to the local pizza place where the toppings change daily from anchovies to beetroot!

Non-ski activities

Relaxing is the best activity to try here, with not much in the way of organised activities; you can head to the hotel at the resort. There are some more lively towns about 40 minutes to an hour’s drive away where you can find more to do.

Summer season

Hiking is popular in Mt Baker in the summer and there are some beautiful and well maintained trails to take and views to see. You can also try fly fishing in the high mountain lakes or take to the trails by horseback and by mountain bike.
