St Moritz has a reputation for being the most glitzy and glamorous ski resort in Switzerland. The pistes are as immaculately groomed as the designer shops in the resort and the accommodation is as impeccable as the powder. The resort is in a beautiful and scenic area and is relatively easy to get to by car, plane, or train. With over 350km of piste and an entire mountain dedicated to non-skiing, there’s plenty to do at St Moritz, you may even need longer than a week!
Après ski
There’s something for everyone here, with trendy bars for the younger crowds and jazz piano bars for the more sophisticated. St Moritz is a resort to be seen in, so make sure to put on your very finest après threads. Many frequent the ‘Roo Bars’ drinking terrace and ‘Stübli’ and ‘Mulibar’ are where you should head if you want loud music and dancing. For a high-class night out, head to ‘King’s at Badrutt’s Palace’ but jackets and ties are a must!
Eating out
You will be spoilt for choice for places to eat out in St Moritz. There’s a strong Italian vibe to the resort which you can see, taste, and smell in the delicious food on offer in the resort’s restaurants. Of course, you’ll find a high-class collection of five standard world-class restaurants, but there are plenty of more simple places to eat; wood-fired pizzerias, and canteen style places to get a good meal.
Non-ski activities
Obviously the Cresta run should be at the top of your list for non-ski activities in St Moritz! This ice skeleton run is one of the only of its kind that is dedicated primarily to the sport. In winter, the ice and snow covered lake holds horseracing events, polo, and cricket. There is an interesting museum, and of course, the shopping is incredible!
Summer season
In the summer season, when the lake is thawed, there’s nothing quite like swimming in the beautiful waters surrounded by the mountain scenery. Other water based activities include windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, and there are a few ‘fun pools’ with slides and flumes. Obviously hiking is another summer pastime, with rail and cableways taking up to 3,000ft for some amazing views.
