Ski holidays in Les Arcs

If you like your mountains immaculately kept and slopes covered in perfect powder, then Les Arcs is the perfect resort. Sitting at the edge of the Vanoise National Park, the Les Arcs ski area is actually made up of four purpose-built ski in/ski out resorts: Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950, and Arc 2000. These four resorts provide some fantastic après ski nightlife, lovely shops, and charming traditional Alpine villages, along with a huge range of ski accommodation from ski hotels to fully catered luxury chalets.

Set in a beautiful part of the Savoie region of France, each of the four modern resorts that make up Les Arcs are worthy of a week spent skiing on their own and all are within easy distance of each other with most joined by ski links and bus services too. As the resort is purpose built, the standard of the slopes is excellent and it’s a great place for beginners to learn, intermediates to flourish, and for pros to test themselves.

Après ski

Although there isn’t a huge amount of choice for places to go, Arc 1800 has quite a lively nightlife with some bars offering live music and DJ sets in the evenings. There are coaches and snow cats to transport you to and from the other Arc resorts to 1800 and there are ‘piste parties’ happening throughout the season. Arc 2000 also has a couple of good bars and Whistler’s Dream is the place to go if you’re staying up here.

Eating out

There’s plenty of choice across all of the Les Arc towns, from friendly and warm wood and stone restaurants, to rustic mountain restaurants offering delicious traditional fondue and raclette. Arc 2000 has a fantastic pizza place, 1950 has a small choice but is always busy as it offers some delicious and varied food from tapas to traditional fare. Arc 1800 has plenty of places to eat, it’s great for bar snacks before an après night out.

Non-ski activities

If you fancy a break from skiing, there’s plenty to do in Les Arcs. If you want to stay in the warm you can go swimming, bowling, or play a game of pool, or watch the latest releases in the Les Arcs cinema; there are also spas in many of the ski hotels. For a wonderful wintry day out why not try husky sledding or pony joering. For an adrenaline rush try ice climbing, heli-tours, snowmobiling, paragliding and much more; and for a gentle activity you can try ice skating and horse riding.

Summer season

Les Arcs is just as beautiful in the summer- great for families, couples, and groups. There are some superb mountain bike and cycling trails through the mountains and with eight of the lifts available you can really take advantage of the amazing downhill biking on offer. There are many rivers running down through the mountains around Les Arcs and you can explore these by canoe, white water raft, and even canyoning where you can scramble, jump, and climb across the water!
